WHY I WROTE THIS BOOK

Did you know?

  • Most fear of failure comes from not knowing who we are and who our audience is.
  • 76% of the human population suffers from glossophobia – the fear of public speaking.
  • Chemicals like cortisol, dopamine, and oxytocin are released in the brain when we’re told a story.

I wrote Speak Up! Tell Your Story to Influence Others – A Guide to Storytelling with a Multicultural Approach to lead you in your journey of self-awareness and help you engage with those who really matter to you.

With this Multicultural approach to storytelling, you are guided to find your best values, character traits, cultural attributes, and leadership skills to forge the stories that are important to you and make you UNIQUE.

Unleashing the Power of Storytelling in Leadership

As a multicultural marketing trainer and coach, I noticed that my workshop participants were particularly motivated when we discussed topics that included how to address discrimination, inclusion, imposter syndrome, leadership skills, management conflict, and many other personal or professional concerns.

They were afraid to fail.

In a society that constantly pressures us for success, most fears of failure come from two distinctive angles: not knowing who we are and not knowing who our audience is. Learning these storytelling tools will build your strengths upon your leadership values and skills, character traits, and cultural attributes to increase opportunities to hold your ground and finally overcome your fear of public speaking or “imposter syndrome.”

Get ahead and achieve your personal, work, or professional purpose with these simple tools that will make you stand out from the crowd and influence those who really matter.

About Me

As the driving force behind this endeavor, I am a passionate advocate for self-discovery and authentic storytelling. A multicultural marketing communications coach and award-winning communications expert, my journey is marked by a commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices.

Having faced and conquered the challenges of being a woman, immigrant, and Latina in the business world, I bring over two decades of experience to empower individuals like you.

There has never been a timelier moment to publish a book that speaks to the increasing assaults on our multiculturalism as a people and our diversity as a country of immigrants. As diversity expands in the United States, ethnic, cultural, gender, and ability gaps widen in the workplace and the community. The tension caused between forces that resist change and those pushing for change can be addressed with stories that teach, inspire, and bring us together.

4.5 Review from our book reader

When I first attended Susana’s workshop, I immediately stopped masking characteristics about myself I historically saw as flaws. Her workshop is an incredible opportunity to see the value our uniqueness brings to our careers and businesses. It is such a treat for this workshop to be available in a book for all to enjoy!

We live in a time when the demands for people’s attention are such that a great storyteller will always stand out and have a much better chance to exert influence than individuals who are not able to deliver a good story. I highly recommend the book to anyone looking to grow professionally or take their business to the next level.

A truly refreshing, accessible, and inspiring book for all of us on how to tell our story. Susana Baumann’s authenticity and transparency in telling her own story and that of others, combined with her lively and thought-provoking illustration of well-known movies to underline how to structure a narrative, makes this book a compelling read.
